School holiday August 28: Students and parents are checking school schedules for Friday, August 28, 2026, as heavy rain continues in parts of India and Raksha Bandhan falls on the same day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several regions, including Odisha, parts of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, while weather-related disruption remains possible in vulnerable districts. There is no nationwide school holiday announced for August 28. School closures linked to rainfall, flooding, waterlogging, landslides or unsafe roads are decided by state governments, district administrations or individual schools. Parents and students should therefore rely on local official orders rather than treating an IMD warning as an automatic school holiday.State-wise school closure status
