Two children were killed and nine others, including seven children, were injured after drone debris struck a private childcare centre in Krasnodar in southern Russia overnight, regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Monday. The attack also damaged apartment buildings and triggered fires at warehouses in the city, Kondratyev said on Telegram. Russian online retailer Ozon separately said a fire broke out at one of its logistics hubs following the attack. The incident came as Ukraine stepped up strikes on Russian logistics and industrial facilities, while Russian forces continued attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Three killed in Kharkiv attack

In Ukraine, a Russian attack on the outskirts of the northeastern city of Kharkiv killed three people, the regional governor said on Telegram late on Sunday.Ukraine has been seeking additional interceptor missiles from the United States and Europe as it tries to strengthen its air defences against Russian attacks, now in the fifth year of the war.The latest Russian and Ukrainian strikes come as both sides continue targeting infrastructure and military-related facilities far from the front lines.

Drone attack repelled in Stavropol

In Nevinnomyssk, an industrial area in Russia’s Stavropol region near Krasnodar, authorities said a drone attack was repelled early Monday.Governor Vladimir Vladimirov said the attack targeted an industrial area in the city, which has a major chemical production sector.Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian logistics hubs and warehouses, bringing the impact of the war closer to civilians and businesses involved in the country’s online retail economy. The strikes have also drawn a warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin. In comments published on Saturday, Putin said Kyiv had opened a “Pandora’s box” by attacking Russian economic targets and warned that Moscow would target Ukraine’s “most sensitive economic sectors”.
